KBI Investigating Nonspecific School Threat

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A nonspecific threat of school violence has the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Atchison, Kan., Police Department on the case. A KBI news release on Wednesday said a posting was received Tuesday night on MySpace pages in the Atchison, Kan., area about a school shooting incident. There was no specific information on what school, where or when it would happen. "While there is no credible information to suggest the validity of the threat, law enforcement and school administrators across Kansas have been asked to be on heightened awareness. Investigation into the originator and validity of the threat is continuing," KBI Deputy Director Kyle G. Smith said in a news release.

I hope, at the end of the day, the following hypothesis proves true: some student(s) who isn't (aren't) very bright wanted a day off from school, so decided to pull this "prank" to get it.

VT, Your hypothesis could be correct. When my daughters were still in high school, one of the students used the pay phone in the school to call in a bomb threat...for a prank. It was an exciting day, to say the least.

At our school there were a few fairly harmless pranks.
One senior rode his Honda three wheeler through the halls with nuttin' but tennis shoes, a hat and a grin on.
The class of '75 actually had a ficticious student,
FRED SCHWARTZ!
They enrolled him, turned in papers, he got grades, and all was well.
When the VP found out, he was a real sport about it.
They actually had an assembly to hold a mock funeral for their poor dear departed Fred.
And he got his picture in the year book!
(it was a wig-holder with wig on backwards and some sunglasses)
