I only say that because anything you post on InstantSpot gets ranked very highly in google searches.
For example:

If you aren't tracking your stats you don't really know how many readers you have :)

I promised myself all kinds of things would get done today! Then my Ginger (faithful dog) turned those beautiful brown eyes on me asking for a long walk. She and I walked quite a ways for us (probably 3 miles) and now I'm lowering my expectations. Sitting here for my short rest and it's getting harder to think about getting up...
It is a pretty day!

This is a time of year I look forward to with dread. Part of it is the total inconvenience the River Festival brings to us who work in Downtown Wichita. While I'm sure that sounds selfish and self-centered, some illustrations: the need to leave as close to 1700 hrs as possible so one's vehicle isn't trapped in its parking place by those coming for the events; the increased traffic flow (not in and of itself bad) with more people on their cells trying to find "free" parking and totally ignoring one-way street signs, pedestrians; the early appearance and longer duration of the panhandlers (normally, they're out for about 1/2 hour, from 5 to 5:30; we get to deal with them from 3 to 9 during River Festival) and others. It's quite a shock to journey to the men's room at midafternoon and find several strange folks located therein, which results in calling the management, etc., with all that entails. BUT, this isn't the primary reason for my dread.
It is the end of the school year. As many know, my wife is the "Administrative Assistant" at the Independent Middle School. The end of the school year brings late nights for about two weeks leading up to the "last day of school" while the end-of-year ceremonies are planned, the recipient of various awards determined, the final grades in so that final report cards may be prepared, all while the normal day-to-day operation of the school office continues. The result of this is the reporting of myself, as well as the Principal's husband, to the office nightly during at least the last week of this period, to be put to work in many ways, including without limitation, making copies; stuffing large manila envelopes with a variety of materials; and generally being the "go-fers" for our spouses. Oh, by the way, while offspring were of suitable age, they also got to "help".
Why do we do this? From years of experience, we have learned that if we wish to spend any time with our dear ladies, we better go help, else our contact will be by telephone around midnight inquiring when they might be home, followed by meeting them coming in as we are rising to do our morning ablutions prefatory to leaving for our "day jobs" as they seek a quick nap before going back. It has not been uncommon for the two of us to not personally see our spouses for days at a time during the "end of school" period.
BTW, faculty spouses are also there late into the night many days, also assisting and aiding in the necessary preparations for the annual shut down; it sometimes becomes a bit of a social event, gathering around for yet another cup of coffee or other caffeinated beverage and telling tales... I digress.
Thus, our dedication to the task. This year, it has gone surprisingly well. As of 10:30 last night, as we left the building, we remarked of our progress, seeing as how we had only been there until 11:00 the night before, and we were in similar readiness as in prior years at 3:00 a.m. on early Friday morning (the last day of school). Until my wife became so employed, I was ignorant of all that went into the annual festivities.
There are benefits to this, aside from seeing the wife. The aforesaid husband of the Principal and I have become very well acquainted, her children have become almost as ours (and vice versa), the other faculty members and their spouses and we have become much better acquainted on a personal level than would otherwise have happened. However, during this period, he and I, together with our delightful ladies, operate on minimum sleep, and we plan our activities to the extent we are able to be as "stressless" as possible.

Ah yes, stress free times. I don't remember what those were like, but of course, i have a two year old, i am trying to sell my house, looking for a new house, planning a wedding and working full time, plus all the other little minor things that get forgotten about in all the mess... one day I will be stress free! It is my goal in life!

You know, I was looking at Blog X today - first time in a month I ventured over there. I really have to stop going there because it makes my blood pressure raise whenever I do. And since I refuse to post there anymore because I simply don't want to feed the monsters with their irrational views (that doesn't apply to all of the posters, just some, and I am sure you all understand who I mean) I think perhaps I will just stop going there permanently. Because one of these days I won't be able to bite my tongue any longer, and well, it could get messy...

I'm so glad you're here Wendy! I sent Tracy an email just yesterday asking how in the world we could get hold of both you and Gary (gster). It is absolutely sooo wonderful in here where (so far) we haven't had anyone who wants to argue for the sake of arguing, skeer us chitless or convince us of how immoral and evil we are. Tracy makes this place almost UNnavigable (is that a word?) so there's always something new to read and kick around! He is definitely a prolific thread starter! As always no one pays any attention to what the subject of the thread is or stays on subject -- including Tracy! We're just unruly!
