THE COMMON MAN
OPEN THREADSThe term 'common man' is used to emphasize the similarities or distinctions between a member of a social, political or cultural elite, and the average citizen.
I would define the common man as the type of people that Christ ministered to, called to discipleship, and lived with.
Not at all the type of hard right christians who claim to own him now.
IN FACT, I BELIEVE THAT THE 'MORAL MAJORITY', IF THEY LIVED IN CHRIST'S TIME, WOULD NOT HAVE GIVEN JESUS AND HIS FRIENDS THE TIME OF DAY, IN FACT THE MORAL MAJORITY OF THOSE TIMES PUT HIM TO DEATH.
Christ did not come here to 'save' the rich, the powerful, the righteous, and the self righteous. He came here to form an egalitarian society. As such, so shall I continue his work.
In my own redneck-half-assed way,
I am here for THE COMMON MAN.
We are uncommon in that we see the good in all people, male, female, rich or poor, Christian or other, black or white or brown.
We are uncommon in that we believe that the riches of this Earth should be preserved and shared for all people, those alive today and those that will come long after we are gone.
We are uncommon in that we choose not to fight, but will do so if necessary to defend that which we believe in.
We are uncommon in that we would willingly sacrifice for the common good, personally and monetarily.
We are uncommon in that we would gladly extend a hand in friendship and understanding long before we would ever consider raising a fist in anger.
We are uncommon in that we recognize that we are, in fact, just common men, no better nor no worse than any other.
Besides, this last week has been stressfull for me, and I've been kind of an emotional mess.
