What in the world is a commom man? Aren't we all more alike than different? Does common have to do with wealth or lack thereof, social status, education, intelligence, ancestry, weight...??

Linda, all of the things you mentioned. *grin*
I was talking to my friend in Wacko Waco, TX, last night about how gas prices alone are going to kill the middle class. I don't drive all that much, but seeing the price go up another 10 cents really got me down yesterday. It won't be long before people will be going to work only to pay for their gas to get them there! It isn't only that we'll be spending money for our own transportation necessities, but the price of EVERYTHING will climb. When a family can only afford a house, utilities and food (and that gas to get them to work) what happens to the buying power in this country? How will people be able to afford anything more than the absolute basic necessities? Just who will be buying the products and services when they don't have the money to do it? And once that spiral takes hold (and it already has, for some), there will be less people needed for those jobs that provide those products and services. WAKE UP, AMERICA!! There will be no middle class in this country if something isn't done soon!
BTW, Bush is in Texas right now. My friend isn't far from Crawford and always knows when GW is headed for the ranch. She's right under the helicopter flight path. :)

I turned 47 the day I started this instspot blog.
I have had a job nearly everday of my life since age 12.
Some good ones, some....not so much.
This morning, for several reasons, the first and foremost being economic, I GOT MY BIKE OUT. I did a test run to my workplace to see how much earlier I need to leave.
I must get up a whopping, intlerable 15 MINUTES earlier.
I guess I'll have to sacrifice.....after, I'm saving the earth, getting some badly needed aerobic excersice, and all that wear and tear on my wallet. HA!
Ya' know what else?
A minor epiphany during my ride this morning.
I'm not on the Dems side, or the GOP's side.
I must be a populist, whatever that means.
I'm on the side of, 'step up and do the next right thing.
This Democratic congress, bought and paid for PRIOR to the election, now owned by lobbyist's "clients", is going to be content with dragging this war out, for their clients, and their own political gains.

Tracy,
good points. Man, if I didn't have to take the kiddo to daycare in teh mornings, I'd go buy me a vespa and take that sucker to work (i work about 15 miles away from where I live, and while that isn't really all the much in the scope of things, since I hadn't been allowed to exercise for over a year after the kiddo was born because of all the medical problems which ensued his birth, i am in horrible shape, and well, i'd be dead before i ever got there:) )
I just love how, because I have opinions that differ from staunch Republicans, I am automatically a Democrat. I am not a democrat. Not that there is anything wrong with being either one - its more just that I don't buy in to the hype of "party lines" because I think that is how we wind up with messes like the one we have now - because people don't look at WHO they are voting for, or WHAT they are voting for, just whether or not they are a republican or a democrat. I vote based on what people say and how I agree or disagree with them - and I have voted both republican and democrat. I am not registered to any party. I get a little testy about that. Not one single democrat I have spoken to about any issue has ever said "oh you don't agree with me so you must be a republican" But EVERY republican I have talked to has said that almost word for word... I'm with you Tracy, I don't see that have a majority democratic congress is going to make any freaking difference in the way things are run, if for no other reason than Bush will refuse to agree with anything they say...

Until the impeachment fiasco, I called myself an independent. After that sad chapter, I began calling myself and registering as a Democrat. I often say, jokingly, that Democrats are too conservative for me. The truth is, I am rather conservative in a libertarian type of way, although I have strong disagreement with the Libertarian (capital L) Party.
My feeling is that the Democratic Party is more inclusive than the opposition, and for that reason, they usually get my vote. I will split my ticket or decline to vote in a given race if I have strong negative feelings about the Dem or strong positives about the Rep. For example, I did vote for Gary Steed for Sedgwick County Sheriff.
Anyway, speaking of the environment, since I live in the city and most everything is within reasonable walking distance, I have bought a little two wheeled grocery cart and I walk to accomplish most of my errands. After I quit smoking, I needed the exercise anyway. The only problem I have is the @#$%#$^ &*(@ &&@!!^& Wichita drivers that consider pedestrians to be little more than speed bumps. I wish I had a nickel for every time some #!@%^ ^$#^@#! ^&*#Q has nearly ran me over.
Notice for Wichita drivers: Right turn allowed on RED means - after you have !@$#~$% @%!^& #!~~% stopped, you !#@!% $#^&@ @$$^& idiot!!!!
Oh, well.
I feel a little guilty, I am sure that firing up the charcoal grill is not the most environmentally friendly thing to do, but I enjoy cooking outside and the oven heats the house up something terrible.
What is worse, burning charcoal outside or running the AC in the house because the oven jacked the indoor temperature up by 12 degrees?
Anyway, I did cook some brats on the grill tonight. Nothing special, but it was nice to sit outside on the porch drinking a cold one while waiting for Kingsford to do it's thing.
So much for this weekend - my oldest daughter's birthday was today. She turned #@, so now I feel really old.
Catch y'all tomorrow!!!
Until then, be good or don't get caught!!!!
