MUDDY MONDAY OPEN

OPEN THREADS

GOOD MORNING LINDA!

What creatures of habit we are.

Even though I haven't played bloggie much lately, I find myself wondering what the two readers are up too...funny huh?

Linda, I haven't even got my feet wet. But you are correct to be concerned. We haven't seen this much water in SEK since about 1986, I think. That summer, my father's picure was front page news for the Eagle. Rescued some folks trapped by flood waters.

Parsons is several miles west of the Neosho river, and so far doing fine.  However, the towns on the Verdigris, Caney, and Neosho are in deep doo-doo. The Verdigris, outside Coffeyville, is the lowest point in Kansas. The river is into the refinery there, and polluting everything downstream.

Having been an avid fast water canoeist, Lifegaurd and SCUBA diver, I know all too well the power of moving water.

It's not as bad at my house as it is in your area but I'm thinking on how to load the boat w/ all our treasured possessions!

I think there are more than two.

Glad to know you and yours are high and dry; really sorry about the many who aren't. When I was a kid (back before the BIG DITCH) we lived in Park City and went through three floods -- I too know the power and the sorrow that comes with water where it shouldn't be.

We were so poor and what we had was ruined. It wasn't much but when its all you have... The good news is we didn't have a clue we were poor! Maybe my parents did, but not us kids. We had everything important and we learned how to work, help without being asked, what really is important and that serves us well as adults.

My son is bringing a lady friend to visit, they arrive this afternoon. This should be very interesting! I didn't ask questions -- don't think it's my right and am content to wait to learn what he wants to tell me. But I am curious and a little excited!

You know Tracy there are a handful of people I met blogging that I really miss when I don't hear for several days. Good friends all, without ever having met in person! Someday.

Linda, hope the visit turns out well. Having been the one "bringing a lady friend to visit" in the past, the experience can be very interesting for all concerned. :-)

Tracy, glad you're staying dry. I feel for those who are not dry, and contemplating the remnants once the flood water recedes. I think all of us here in Wichita can be very appreciative of the "big Ditch" given the rainfall over the past few days.

Man... we are soggy here in the Dallas area, and the forecast is for thunderstorms the rest of the week. Yesterday my family had to move everything out of my brother's lake house as it appears that by Tuesday or Wednesday it will in the lake, based on the corps' predictions. Lake Texoma, which is on the border between TX and OK, is higher than we have ever seen. So, exactly how long is a cubit?

WOW! What interesting stories you must have to tell! Hurry up and get finished with this stuff that keeps you from sharing some of them. Can't wait to hear.

See, I don't often say I told you so, but I did tell you there were more than two!
