Me too! I like your prayer.

A man I was privileged to work for had a small brass plague on his desk -- pointed so it could only be read by the person sitting at his desk, it wasn't for show but for him. His office was in San Antonio and I worked in Wichita but on a visit to his office I needed to make a phone call so he moved so I could sit at his desk and motioned for me to use his phone. That's how I read the small brass plague that said:

L I D G T T -- F T A T I M

After finishing the phone call I asked about the letters. He explained they stood for the first letters of the words in his daily prayer, which was:

Lord, I do give thee thanks -- for the abundance that is mine.

We talked for quite awhile and he explained he needed to be reminded to be thankful and aware of how much he should be thankful for. He said he was a weak man because it seemed he always remembered the things he wanted to ask for, but didn't always remember to be thankful for his abundance.

He wasn't a weak man! He was a man who deserved the respect and love everyone who knew him felt! I was privileged to work for that man for seventeen years! I have those letters on my computer. I pray his prayer daily (sometimes many times a day). He died seven years ago, his lessons are remembered every day.

Nice, Tracy. Hope it works for me.

Need to apologize to those who caught my intemperate response to Nathan over on dubya's blog. I know better, and let my temper overcome my judgment. I do question whether he can read, though, as I didn't contradict Iranian involvement, just the attempt to link the same to the Iranian government. Sorry, guys.

I've never read a post you made that needed an apology!

I was doing the "way to go" jig when I read your response. I wanted to tell you how wonderful your words were but figured it would only encourage the little boy soldier. It is best for me to ignore him. If I could reason as well as you I would respond.

Hold up your right hand, feel my palm slapping against yours -- WAY TO GO!!

Nathan is so pitiful, he could be writing "The Colbert Report" word for word when he blogs.
It's actually hilarious, if you imagine it that way.
It's not hilarious becuse it's his reality.
Pitiful, just pitiful.

Nope, he lives to be afraid, very afraid. How else would someone like him be competent in a role of protector??

In this morning's Eagle there is an editorial titled, "If you offend the gun lobby, reaction is swift." It's an easy read and much of what it says is in what isn't written.

One sentence made me think of the Nathans, "In general, these are exactly the people I'd rather not see armed." Nathan's reality also doesn't include my reality of not fearing guns but some of those who use them.

Read the editorial here:

If Nathan had been paying attention he would have realized none of us refugees are into pissing contests. Again Vaughn, SO WELL PUT!
