JOHN EDWARDS HAIR TAKES A FALL IN PUBLIC!
The hair is believed to have only suffered minor mussing, with a small cow-lick developing towards the crown, and a slightly crooked part on the side.
John and family have made a statement, saying that the hair is in no danger of permanent damage. It will be kept wrapped and treated until he can reach his regular stylist for help.
John, our prayers (and donations) go out to you!

I'm confused! I read where Chief Justice John Roberts took a fall (and he does have a head full of hair) but did John Edwards also take a fall? Wouldn't ya know it would be me who would need to have the joke explained, making the whole thing tedious for all who "got" it.

Linda, without going into the intended humor (sarcasm?) of Tracy's post, it is reported that the Chief Justice suffered a seizure of unknown cause. No physiological basis for the seizure has been found.

Tracy, when do you sleep?? This was posted before 5 a.m.
Ginger and I just returned from a walk. We made it 45 minutes this morning. Its been difficult to walk longer / further even when the temp is lower as it feels like the humidity must be someplace close to 200 percent! I am sitting in front of a fan so I can dry off enough to get in the shower and get the day started.
My youngest grandchild is a girl who is 9 years old. She is coming to spend the afternoon. We're going to play with our Webkinz. Madeline gave me my Webkinz as a gift last Christmas so we could play together even when we aren't actually together.

Tracy, I understand the hair and Edwards thing; I was confused because your parady happened when another public official had taken a fall and he happens to be a John and... I guess because it's just easy to confuse me so I'll quit making excuses.

Above is a link to a piece concerning, shall we say drastic, action taken by a business owner to control labor costs.
Rox, keep fighting the good fight on WEBlog. Those who post the gibberish to which you responded will never see the obvious, not to mention the fact that premiums are higher due to higher costs incurred by the uninsured the hospitals, et al., have to try to recover in some manner.

An interesting commentary by Mr. Navarette, arguing that illegal immigration is a self-inflicted wound. Posted here for those whose constitutions do not allow viewing of WEBlog.

Mr. Navarette's analysis reminds me a bit of some "gallows humor" found within the folks who practice Securities Law, that is, the "good deal" exception. This exception, of course, does not exist within the language of the statutes themselves, but instead refers to issues surrounding the issuance of securities which, for any number of reasons, violates the law. No one complains so long as it's a good deal, but if the deal goes bad, the line forms quickly.
Such, as I read it, is the attitude of many of us according to Mr. Navarette. So long as things are going well, and our perceived needs are met, why worry about little things such as the fact that our housekeeper/groundskeeper may not be present in the U.S. lawfully; hey, not my problem. Once things start going bad (increased unemployment, for an example), these little things become big things. Ergo, the actions of the town of Hazelton, which, as the commentator rightly points out, is a "slam dunk" under federal law. Hazelton lost at trial, and will, unless I've forgotten what they tried to teach me in law school, lose on appeal.

Written responses, I believe, of Adm. Mullen, nominee for CJCOS; there seems to be a developing pattern of "little political progress" (naw, you gotta be kidding me) as a rationale for what's going on over there, combined with an admission of mistakes, and the fact that the military effort without more, isn't going to get the job done. Also, an emphasis on Iran here; Iran, the bigger threat to the middle East than Saddam and his thugs ever were, and we blithely go in and remove the one regional actor keeping them, and their plans, in check.

Is a shift in course, containment of Iran vs. democratization of Iraq and the region, the latest reason to "stay the course"? Is containment of Iran the underlying rationale for the Saudi arms deal?

Speaking of college, Vaughn. Wayne asked recently what that great sounding radio station you mention is, where he can find it... I told him to ask, but he is destined to be a lurker. In my best imitation of Tracy, "Do you have a linkie, please?"

Linda, it may be accessed at www.wmhb.org and once there, one has four options from which to select as to listening. I downloaded a link to itunes, which allows XMMS (foss media player) to play it. Windows Media Player is an option, and I'd need to check the site for the others. Presently, there is a show of "Jazz and Big Band Music" on. If you have an absolutely great FM receiver and antenna, it's at 89.7 FM, but I daresay the signal likely doesn't make it this far. :-)
Interestingly enough, yesterday there was a show on which plays "our" generation music - MidLife Crisis, I believe is the name of the show. Anyway, about half-way through it, I came to consciousness and realized that the entire play list to that point had been, without limitation, VN war protest songs; the one that drove that home was "Candles in the Rain" by Melanie Sofka, which I hadn't heard for decades.
I'll remind you (and Wayne) that this is a true college radio station (with an interesting mix of local residents as DJs during the summer), so one never knows what will happen next, insofar as the programming goes. Earlier today, for example, the programming went from a bluegrass show to a world music show (heavy emphasis today on Iraqi/Iranian/Indian music) to the current jazz/big band show. Tomorrow being Wednesday, there will be an African-American Gospel show hosted by a faculty member in the morning, etc. What I'm trying to say is that one is likely to go from nice, quiet jazz type music to a "Metallica" fest, depending upon the preference of the person being the DJ. But, by all means, listen and enjoy; there's an off switch when it gets a bit much.

Linda, breaking news; WHMB has, at its site, finally posted a schedule of its summer programming (link on the left side), so it is now possible to ascertain what's on and what's upcoming!! Great news, so I don't get rudely awakened from my stupor by the punk rock show. Hope this will help.

Hmm, came across this while doing a review of the blogosphere. Al-Maliki seems to not like the latest "Great White Hope" General and what he's doing. Wonder what really happened during the sat phone call?

WOW! So what part of that is credible? Is the spokesperson who says the story of their confrontations being fabricated the one we should believe? WOW! Well, with Al-Maliki and the entire elected "government" on vacation the next month I guess there won't be further confrontations. I haven't seen that the elected government has accomplished one single thing while on duty so I don't see them being gone as changing anything. Whether they are there or gone they thumb their noses at accepting responsibility for their own country's safety.
Vaughn Tolle said:
Linda, I read the comments of the spokesperson as really saying that there have been confrontations, but those reported are fabricated. I'm not sure what part of that has credibility, but I have a feeling that there's more there than some would like us to know. Heck of a note to find stuff out like this from an Aussie newspaper, isn't it? Thus, my tendency to listen to the BBC when not able to sleep (not a frequent occurrence, thank goodness), although the Brits do a good job in inducing sleep after a very short time.
Wondering with the vacation, plus the reported walk-out of the Sunni bloc, if all Hell isn't going to break out over the next month in that wonderful city.

Is there an area there ISN'T more than some would like us to know?
If today was an example of how the month will go it doesn't bring good tidings.
I know bushco wants the September report to allow them to stay in Iraq long enough to get out of town (January 2009) so what will they need to fabricate to make their case?
