Linda, I suspect that his resignation will act as a damper, in part, on the continuation of the investigations. While I'm not into conspiracy theory, it seems to me that given the mounting number of problems being investigated and the existence of a number of trails leading back to Mr. Rove's office, his resignation might be viewed as a political master stroke to give the current President just enough cover to survive unscathed through the remainder of his term.

I agree that the democrats in congress are not serious about the investigations, impeachment, or anything else that might interfer with the corporate campaign donations. I agree with the speculation that they will do NOTHING to rein in bushco because they intend to use those same powers when they win the white house in 08.

Others think this is either Abramhoff or USA firing fallout. I doubt it, since he is much safer in the white house than anywhere else. Of course, as VT and I noted, probably NO ONE is really in danger from congressional investigation.
