On my way home from work just now I heard on the radio that we've had 21 days in a row of 90+ temperatures. While that might sound like a cold front to ya'll, the difference is that the humidity here is always so damned HIGH and the air never moves. I'd give just about anything right now for some DRY heat and a good brisk Kansas breeze!

im, I sadly recall the humidity and no "breeze" from back in the day when in Indiana. Today is the first real "dry" heat day, by the way; we've been battling some fairly high humidity levels, too lately to accompany the heat. Oddly enough, the wind (at least to me) hasn't been blowing at its "normal" level lately, either.

Good to see you im! Has your grandchild made the grand entrance yet?
Wichita had way higher humidity this year than most - we had rain that lasted into July and even now the ditches, etc. are still green so that says there is still moisture. That higher humidity makes it much worse so I hope this doesn't become a normal part of Kansas weather.
I don't like this heat! But as I've told you before I am an equal opportunity complainer and the weather doesn't suit me unless it's nearly perfect -- 70 degrees, low humidity, very gentle breeze, sunshine. Oh, and NO BUGS!
The grandbaby - who apparently WILL be a boy named Timothy Michael (the parents are totally convinced) is due September 23. I'm still trying to work out an appropriate nickname for him since he'll be named after two of my least favorite people - my two ex-husbands. "Tike" has already been used by a previous Timothy Michael in the extended family, and Tichael sounds a bit too much like Urkel to me ... If he WOULD happen to be a she after all, she will be Maggie Ruth-Sharon. Really, the only thing I care about is that mother and baby do well and there are no complications - everything else will fall into place after that on it's own:-)
Humidity in Kansas? It hardly seems possible! We had hoped to be able to zoom out there for a quick weekend in October - for my Mom's reunion at Sterling College - but now I'm sure it won't happen for a variety of unpleasant reasons.
Speaking of BUGS - not long after my neighbor's dog dragged home a fish with a fur tail out of the pond by their house, I encountered my very first spider cricket. That is one VERY freaky bug - if you've never seen one then count yourself lucky! Stephen King couldn't have come up with anything quite as repulsive!
