The following censored letter addressed to Mrs. Mary Daley, 2421 Main, Parsons,Kansas, U.S.A.:

January 10-1942

Pvt. Michael J. Daley

Plum

c/o Postmaster Genl. San Francisco

Dear Mamie:

Sorry it has taken me so long to write but I guess you understand I am all right and hope the rest of you are the same. I haven’t heard from you for a long time but I hope I will be getting some mail soon. When you write this time let me know what the rest of the family is doing. I sure wish I could have come home before I left on this trip but I couldn’t quite see my way clear. The last letter I got from you, you said something about Clay, I was wondering what the score is there. How is little Mike now? Okay I hope. I’ll bet he has grown up an awfully lot hasn’t he? How is Margaret and Bill getting along and how did she like her trip home. Is John still home or what. Tell every body hello and I hope I’ll be seeing all of you soon I think I will be closing now as censorship forbids my saying anything at all. So, hoping to hear from you soon, I remain.

Your loving Son

Mike

Jan 14-42

Dear Mamie:

I thought I would drop you another line as I have a little time and am not too busy today. I guess you have received some mail from me as I have written when ever possible. You need no longer use the San Francisco Plum address. As we are to be in Java a while I guess, altho I can’t tell you just where. I haven’t received any mail as yet but hope it will catch up with us some time. This has really turned out to be quite a trip where it will end nobody knows but I am ready for some more traveling as you easily guess. Tell Bernard I would have written him but I guess he is probably in the Army by now. I hope they don’t take both him and John as you have to have some one. I hope everything is going okay with you all at home. What about Mary and Margaret did you tell them to write me. I can’t write them as I have lost their address. Tell all my friends hello for me. And be sure to write me as soon as you possibly can.

Love

Mike
