PRAYERS PLEASE
Posted : Nov 8, 2007 7:01 AM
JULIE'S CORNER
As some of you may know Roy was taken to the ER yesterday around noon via ambulance. He has been admitted with the possiblity of pnuemonia, infection, blod clot - they weren't sure.
Well he has sepsis. He also has a staph infection in the blood. He's also in acute renal failure and there is some major muscle breakdown occuring. They have him on a respirator.
Will know more today hopefully. Still haven't ruled out possible blood clot but the sepsis/staph/renal/muscle breakdown needs to get fixed first.
May have to go in and clean out the knee area because they think the infection started in the knee but they aren't sure yet.
And no, I'm not ok. I'm barely hanging on - I'm trying so hard not to cry in front of the kids but I'm bawling as soon as they can't see me.
Dear Lord,
I just want my husband fixed and back home with me. I want him around for a long long time.
Please Pray and pass on to all the prayer chains you know of.
Thanks,
Julie

I know every one of us is on the edge of our seats. This has so colored our world and made each of us stop to know what really is important. So, if we feel this much how is Julie even putting one foot in front of the other? Because she must I suppose is the only answer. Boy there should be some mountains to move or something that could be done that is helpful... At least some words.
Vaughn Tolle said:
Linda, "Because she must..." is the answer. This, unfortunately, is a part of "growing up and becoming an adult"; we will all face a crisis or two in our lives, pertaining to our loved ones, and we, too, will put one foot in front of the other because we must. I've no pretty words or phrases for her, or anyone else in her situation. Inarticulate that I am, I hope Julie knows that I, as well as the rest of us regulars here at the space Tracy so kindly provides, that we're doing what we feel is right and appropriate in praying, for those who do, thinking, and hurting a bit for her in this time, with full knowledge that each of us has been or will be there at some point and needing the consideration of others to help us through.

So I sit here, having put on some J.S. Bach, and hope the soothing effects of "some of the greatest music ever written" will soothe my mind, and allow me to get to work. I hope that if it works, my soothed mind will transmit soothing thoughts to Julie, and she receive some solace therefrom.

If it works let me know. I'm still thinking moving mountains might be easier than achieving that place where you get your mind off this.
Vaughn Tolle said:
Linda, listening to Bach temporarily got my mind off "this", but as it always happens, I don't really get any work done, as I follow the intricate note, chord progressions, fugal themes, etc. In other words, I am caught up in the music. So, now I'll try something different and report back later.

Linda,
I suspect really that is exactly what it is... something we must do when faced with difficult situations. I've observed from my parents, and recently enough when mom had to go through cancer treatments(still does because of the stage).

Tracy, the three you listed are also among my favorites, as is any brass fugue. My personal favorite J.S. Bach composition is the "Brandenberg Concerto No. 5".
Reminds me of the following I heard when the elder was mastering a Bach keyboard concerto for the annual WPTL concerto competition:
When God wants to listen to music, He listens to Bach. When the angels want to listen to music, they listen to Mozart, and God listens at the door.

On another thread at another time I noted I despise the label "gifted" as applied in education. Why? I consider W.A. Mozart gifted; most gifted students, on the other hand, are just very bright individuals who do well academically.

Oops! "Brandenburg", of course. My head is really not in the game this afternoon. :-(

VT, this is an old girlfriend from high school.
Her mother was the orchestra director for many years here, in fact she taught my Mother to play, as well as my children. Of course, Laura was always enormously GIFTED. sorry VT, I'm prejudiced. I mean, she's from Parsons, she must be gifted, HA!
Laura Seaton, violin
Violinist Laura Seaton is well-known for her work performing (from classical to jazz, from avant-garde to performance art) and composing for the former Soldier String Quartet (now the Sirius String Quartet) and improvising trio Framework. She has toured throughout Europe and North America, playing many jazz, avant- garde and new music festivals, and has recorded and collaborated with and performed for artists as diverse as Phillip Glass, John Zorn, Marin Alsop, Anthony Davis, Jonas Hellborg, the New England Bach Festival, Astor Piazolla, Sinead O'Connor and others. She has recorded for Newport Classics, High Harmony (on Robert Bonfiglio's Through the Raindrops) and others.
Ms. Seaton made her Carnegie Hall debut in 1989 and has performed for German Television, PBS, The Serious Fun Festival at Lincoln Center, the Relative Violin Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival, Bimhuis & Steim in Amsterdam, London's Guildhall School of Music, the Kennedy Center, the Akademie der Kunste and others. The Sirius String Quartet recently appeared at the Knitting Factory and live on WNYC; the Laura Seaton Sextet appeared at the Knitting Factory as part of the "What is Jazz Festival?", the "Blues to Bop Festival" in Lugano and the "unlimited 93" festival in Austria.

Thank you for all your kind words. We're playing the waiting game right now. The nurses/doctors are looking out for multiple organ failure. Basically because the kidneys aren't working like they should there is a possiblity that the infection could start to affect other organs. If that occurs and his other organs start shutting down - well it ain't pretty.
The next few days are going to be the worst.
He'll probably be placed on dialysis tomorrow. I hope and pray that the dialysis will help him eliminate part of the infection and he'll be able to cleanse his system more efficiently.
It's a long haul folks I won't lie. If we have him home by Christmas it will be a miracle.
The kids know that Daddy's very sick. Chance knows he has sepsis. But I won't tell him much more for now because I don't want the egg donor to use it against me.
I've got to go back to work tomorrow and I'll be working 1/2 days for now. Boss wasn't extremely happy but he was understanding.
Folks it's so hard right now. I'm just bawling my fool eyes out, wishing and praying it was me there instead of him.
The girls are in bed and I'm downstairs typing thankful that the keyboard seems waterproof for now.
The power of prayer is great and the Lord is good. I'm sure there is a reason behind this and it will be for the greater good. I'm trying so hard to trust and believe.

Julie, if love could make him well, he'd be doing jumping jacks right now. Sending more your way.

Julie,
We will keep you in our prayers. I know it is scary. If it is any consolation, my cousin developed sepsis and blood poisoning as a result of a missed kidney infection two years ago, and while it was a bit touch and go for a while, he made it home in a couple of weeks and fully regained use of his kidneys as well... Here's hoping things turn out as well for you both... Please if there is anything you need, don't hesitate to ask, I am sure any of us would be glad to do whatever we can.
