W.W.W. (Weekend Wilkenson Watch)

JULIE'S CORNER
Julie, thanks.
I think the prayers help the people who pray them as well as Roy. Another boost of confidence is in order here.
My father had his butt rebuilt, bone, muscle and all, and ended up in worse shape than Roy.
He not only had MRSA, sepsis, and failing kidneys, but a couple of Urinary bugs as well.
YES, this whole thing is very scary. I KNOW.
Dad was incoherent, talking crazy, halucinating.
He kept wanting me to turn off his ventilator and "cut him loose".
The hardest part is just watching. That's all you can do. Shit.
Okay, that's enough of that.
Just be assured that full recovery is very very likely.
It will take quite some time, and boatloads of cash that you'll never have, but money doesn't mean crap. I just want you to know that I woke up thinking about this.
It REAAAALLLY hit "close to home".
Take care of yourself first. If you don't they'll be checking you into a room. HA!
Prayers,
Tracy

I'm thankful for insurance who should be covering most of this. If not - well I'll fight that battle when it comes.

I've been calling the night nurse around 10 pm and then again around 6 am and both times I've been encouraged because he's holding steady. He's mildly sedated at this point. They're hoping to have him off the respirator within the next few days.

Of course I'll keep y'all posted as I can.
Expect early morning or late night posts.

Chick is a bit more clingy to me lately w/ Daddy in the hospital. But she seems to be handling it ok. She's been up and seen Daddy and held his hand and told him she loves him and wants him to come back home.
Boo knows about the sepsis and the kidney problems and is confident that "the old man" will be ok.

not like I'm sleeping like normal so this keeps me semi-occupied. :)

Ugh. Just got the joint checking figured out. Remind me to beat him for the mess he created of the checkbook when he gets home.

Now the joys of everyday life - the monthly bills.
It all seems so mundane and trivial but I'd like to have a house and electricity and phone when he comes home so I guess I better get to writing checks.

Sending you more love Julie. TO both you and all of yours. I second what Tracy said. I had a friend in Austin who had something similar after surgery, and she did recover, but it was a damn long haul. But Roy has you all as incentive to recover, and my pal had no family, so with the benefit of all who love him, he should come back to your lit up, warm and with phone house!

The money will take care of itself. Really. It's hard to believe, but there is a saying that "if you have problems that can be solved with money, you really dont have any problems". I bet you can relate to that after all this horror.

Dont forget our offers to help. Sending you more love right now...

Yep, Julie, please remember we want to help if it would be helpful.

Not much for a resume but I can put a mean shine on a toilet bowl. Not that I am at all interested in resume building! This past week I was offered two jobs! I think it's a conspiracy; one I'm carefully protecting myself against!

Thank you Longhorn and Linda. I shot LH an email but I may need your girls help cleaning house. Evidently this MRSA is pretty contagious so I'll need to lysol everything that doesn't move and most of what does move. Also my poor house. Between the knee surgery and this hospitilization - it's wrecked!

I remember what it was like when I just had a job and kids - no surgery or illness - so know what wrecked houses are. Shoot, today I no longer have the job or the kids so blame it on the husband and the pets. Someone please let me know. It will sure be easier and better and more satisfying than cleaning my own.

Maybe we can set longhorn up in the kitchen and stock the freezer while we're at it.

I'll bet some good things can happen!

Well MM is still maintaining or "treading water". His vitals are strong!!!

His respiration tube went a bit out of place this morning (it wasn't deep enough) and he fought like a hellcat when they put it back in. That's my MM - the fighter - the scrapper.

So because he was stressed from that experience they had him pretty sedated all day. He did respond to his brother and his brothers wife today. By the time I got there he was sedated but I'm glad Larry and Vicky had communication with him.

His creatin levels (measuring kidney function) are still increasing. They were at 6.5 today (normal is 1). The renal doctor still thinks that dialysis will help and he had dialysis again today (just purifying - not removing any fluid) and he'll have another session tomorrow. He's still not urinating much.

But he pooped!!!!!! I never thought I'd be happy about him pooping the bed but I was so excited!!!!
Hopefully he'll get rid of some of those nasty toxins this way. (Sorry for TMI).

Our friend BeerWeasle came up to see MM today from Dallas area TX. He brought the strippers and the beer that Roy was looking forward to after rehab. Only thing is - he forgot the beer at home and he was the stripper.
I'm glad he came up - even if it's been 6 years since he made the trip. He brought his girlfriend Brandie - she's such a sweetie. She and I have a myspace relationship. I think MM will like her when he has the opportunity to meet her in better circumstances.

I am so positive that Roy will get better. I just have a peace about it.

Keep your prayers comin'! It's working!

baby shuffle!!!!!!
His creatin went up last night but only to 6.8 a difference of .3 - good news - the previous days the creatin levels would go up by 2 or 3 whole numbers. Renal doctor says this means he's responding to dialysis and this is a good sign - we may even see lowering creatin levels by mid to late week.

You sound happier and more optimistic every day and I know that has to be because things are lookin' up! Even if it's tiny improvements every one is something to celebrate. Again, thanks for keeping us up-to-date on the good news. Whoo hoo!!

Here's Julie's latest email for any whose email addresses she doesn't have. Julie, sleep well, dear! You deserve it!

------------
Baby Shuffles!!!!!!!!!!
His creatin level went up .3 points but this is good news since previous days had seen jumps of 2 or 3 point something.

He's been taken of the sedative and is just on pain meds. He was much more with it today. He was cognizant for about a total of a bit over an hour. He responded well to questions and is determined to be home by Christmas.

He managed a finger wave to my mom and smiled a couple times at me.

Tomorrow is his 43rd birthday. That's 2 family birthdays this year that he's spent in the hospital (Winter's was the other birthday).

He's also had 2 more bowel movements.

I'm so very tired. I'm going to bed. I'm sure Desperate Housewives and Dexter will soon be on reruns with the state of the Writers Strike.

Love,
Julie

I am sad to hear about MM. I will keep your family in my prayers.

I don't know what I could do to help, but if you need anything let me know.

God Bless
