I am thankful for my son (most days, anyways!), my fiance, my job (hahahah), my parents, my home, my cat and soon my dog (I don't know about this whole dog thing, I have to tell you...), and well, generally my life... Some days are better than others, but at least I am here to have better days...

Health, family, each of YOU, my pets who are my constant loyal companions, that my sisters and I no longer argue over whose turn it is to the dishes. I'll think on this too and come up with more!

There are many things for which I am thankful. Right now, I'm thankful that the apparently very bad intersection accident at Broadway and Douglas is cleaned up, the traffic is moving normally, and I can now leave.

Everyone have a good Thanksgiving.

Hope all had a good Thanksgiving. Julie, sounds like things are looking up for MM and you.

Mrs. VT continues to recuperate slowly from the surgery. Still (as of last night) on liquid diet. She was able to take her first walk yesterday, which wore her out. There have been a few things that have slowed her down, and I expect that she's not going to be able to get home until Saturday at the earliest.

Vaughn,

Hope things start getting better soon. I don't have anything for comparison, but I DO remember my C-Section, and I was "locked up" so to speak, for five days with that one. I would imagine that you should expect the same at a minimum...

Julie - sounds like things are looking up and you have much to give thanks for this season!

Sorry to hear recovery is slowed! Hospitals are the place to be when you require something they have that isn't avail at home, but they aren't a pleasant, quiet or restful place. I remember being amazed at the tiredness -- I hadn't done anything I reasoned. Well, actually, the insides had worked pretty hard and deserved lots of rest! Just the affects of anesthesia are a hurdle, and this was no minor surgery!

Julie, I am tickled to hear the good news about MM. It's been a long haul and it's good things are lookin' up!

Wendy and Linda, thanks for the responses. I think right now the main issue is my wife's impatience. I realize that this was major surgery, and that given her age (yeah, I know, a topic that is generally off limits), a quick "bounce back" is not to be expected (but don't tell her that). She heard the doctor say she could be released today (this was before the surgery), and recognizes that right now, that's not going to happen, thus the impatience.

With respect to Julie, I again want to say things sound good for MM. Such good news, after all he's been through (not to mention all Julie's been through).

MM has pneumonia and fluid on both lungs. He also has pneumothorax (the air in the chest cavity) on both sides.

They intend on keeping a close eye on the pneumothorax - the worse of the two has a tube draining it. It is showing signs of improvement. They're just keeping an eye on the other side for now.

They will treat the pneumonia and fluid with antibiotics.

Physical Therapy is coming in and working with him - doing streching exercises and some strenthening. Hopefully they'll get him up and around next week.

MM remains in good spirits and was picking on me today. He's slowly regaining his voice. He hasn't been sleeping well at night so he requested something to help him sleep tonight.
