ROY WATCH / OPEN THREAD

OPEN THREADS
Physical Therapy got Roy up and sitting on the edge of the bed for 15 minutes this morning.  I wasn't there but he said "it hurt like hell".
The doctors are seeing improvement w/ the pneumonia and pneumothorax.
His creatin continues at 4.7 - his urine output is increasing and lightening in color.  The kidney doctors are starting to talk about going to and every other day dialysis to see if they can't get the kidneys working properly again.  Labs are starting to show better regarding the kidneys.
Roy continues to be in good spirits.
I found a pimple that suddenly occured on our 14 month old baby this evening.  It wasn't there when she was changed at 5 and it was there with a full head when I changed her at 7:50.  Pimples and inflamed skin abrasions can be an early sign of MRSA staph.  PLEASE pray for us that it isn't staph for her.

Thank you all for your love and support.

Love,
Julie

Sorry about the dissapearing comments.
Jules asked that I 86 the name of her baby.
Thanks to my dear friends who comment, I was having a bit of trouble editing the name out.

Sorry for the trouble, but safety first!

Good on you, Tracy; safety first indeed. I was contemplating contacting Julie and suggesting she ask you to, in your words, "86" the name, and she beat me to it. As for the comment I had posted earlier, well, no harm, no foul on its deletion.

Julie, I hope that with the baby, a pimple is just a pimple. Glad to know Roy is slugging his way back to recovery. I know it seems sometimes that it is two steps forward and one step back, but eventually the goal line is reached.

Take good care of yourself too.

To repost a bit of what Tracy deleted (again, no harm, no foul); things sound good for MM; and, as longhorn said much better than I did the first time, I hope that a pimple is just a pimple.

Now, on my front, Mrs. VT was discharged from the hospital last night once all the protocols were followed. The staff made a mistake in telling her that once the pump arrived, she could be discharged; it arrived about 3:30, and when I showed up at 5:30, she was all over some person about why she was still there. Apparently, somebody forgot to dot an i or cross a t, but eventually, about 7, all was well, and home we went. The pump makes a bit of noise, to which I will need to adjust, but seeing how much better she seems to be with this therapy in place, I'll do it. A small concern is the amount of fluid being drained, and as I said before, I presume it is a part of the healing process, and will diminish over time. Home health care is coming this afternoon to check things out, and I'm confident that if something isn't right, they'll let us and the doctor know.

VT, forgot to warn ya' about the annoying noises the thing makes. With all the other noises Dad's equipment makes, I never really paid attention.

I believe your health care folks should track the amount, color, etc, of the discharge.

In any case, it's much better to have her home.

No problem, Tracy; should have picked up on the noise from the one in the hospital that was being used Monday night. Yes, it is much better having her home, and as for the home health care folks, I understand that tracking the discharge is one of their duties.

The noise had much noise to compete with in the hospital -- noisy places!

Julie, keep us posted, please. You're an angel to remember us. Babies do get pimples and you're extra watchful and sensitive to the situation right now. Understandable!

They shouldn't have said Mrs. VT could go home if they didn't really mean it! She showed them and good for her. Home is more comfortable than anyplace. And remember as the nurse who doesn't accept insurance your very expensive rates could add up to something good when this is all done!

Ah, Linda, it (her going home) was meant; the issue was one of lack of a discharge order from the doctor, who apparently thought he'd provided same. Once that was determined and the doctor called, all went smoothly thereafter (just found this all out). The major problem was that no one bothered to inform my wife of what the issue was, and so she was frustrated by the apparent lack of action and lack of explanation. Had there been a bit of disclosure, she'd not have been quite so upset, and I suspect would have contacted the doctor herself. Plus, she'd have been spared yet another meal in the hospital. :-)

Glad to hear everyone is on the road to recovery.

Julie, hopefully the pimple is just that - the monster still gets them himself from time to time (usually somewhere on his face the day we go to get pictures :)!) We will keep our fingers crossed for you.

The last time I went to the hospital I checked myself out. In fact, I DC'ed the IV, dressed, packed, called Wayne at his office and told him to meet me in the parking garage as I was leaving, hung up when he was asking why I wouldn't be wheeled out to the exit after warning him to pay attention to what I was saying. I had to sit down in the hallway a couple times on the way to that parking garage but I made it. I told them I was leaving before they killed me and proceeded to make it happen. I am not a nice person when they get me riled up! I imagine I have quite a file at Wesley.

Did I ever tell you that I may have the most stubborn, pig-headed streak of anyone you've ever known?
