Tracy, I tried to post this on the actual blog that you put down, but yes, it is skwooed up and I can't add comments there...

So Here you go!

*************************************************************************
1. Wrapping paper or gift bag? Okay, I love wrapping gifts, to a point. I am that crazy person that has to have all the edges perfect and everything even and all that. So once I reach the maximum frustration levels with trying to wrap all those gifts perfectly, things get shoved into gift bags...

2. Real tree or artificial? Artificial.

3. When do you put up your tree? Depends on the year. It appears now that it will be the day after Thanksgiving as my fiance is Christmas CRAZY!!!

4. When do you take down your tree? After New Year’s Day.

5. Do you like eggnog? Nope.

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Well, when I was five, Santa (the REAL Santa, I swear, and he STILL comes to my aunts house on Christmas eve and brings the kids gifts !) brought me a kitten. I loved that cat, but she was the MEANEST cat I have ever seen. Everyone else hated her... :) Ah, Memories - had to have her put down about 4 years ago - she just got to the point where she couldn't go up and down the stairs and had lost control of her bladder... :(

7. Do you have a nativity scene? I have SEVERAL. One is a puzzle I have had since I was a child (one of those big wooden puzzles, it's pretty neat, really) that goes in my son's room, one that my grandmother gave me when I bought my house which is all white and gorgeous, one that is just Mary, Joseph and Jesus that goes in the guest bedroom, and my fiance has this gold one we put up in the basement.

8. Hardest person to buy for? Grandmother - she has EVERYTHING...

9. Easiest person to buy for? My son. Kids at this age love whatever you get them... hope he stays that way for a while...

10. Worst Christmas gift you've ever received? There are no bad presents... I honestly can't think of a single bad gift I have gotten... some I didn't particularly like, but nothing BAD...

11. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail.

12. Favorite Christmas movie? That has to be a tie between the ORIGINAL How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer... (My fiance would agree with you, though Tracy... he even has Christmas Story ornaments for the tree!)

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Well, typically after Thanksgiving... but I am actually almost done this year, amazingly enough...

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? NO

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? My grandma's special Candy Cane cookies - not the pepperminty kind...

16. White or colored lights? All White outside (we have the craziest house on the block so far), one tree inside with colored and one tree all white (My Martha Stewart tree, as the Fiance calls it...) I personally prefer the white, but the Hallmark ornaments just don't look the same on a white tree...

17. Favorite Christmas song? Dominick the Christmas Donkey... Just Kidding, although I think that song is hilarious - it's really Silent Night, followed closely by O Holy Night

18. Traveling for Christmas or stay home? Home - sort of. Still in the same city, not at the same house...

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers? Yes I can - Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen... and do you recall the most famous reindeer of all? :)

20. Angel or Star on top of tree? Star, although I have seen some absolutely BEAUTIFUL angels on trees before. Product of my upbringing I suppose - we have always had stars.

21. Open presents Christmas Eve or Morning? Both. Dad's family Christmas Eve, Mom's family Christmas Day

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year? All those psycho crazy people in the stores...

23. What I love most about Christmas? Family.

24. Do you like fruitcake? am I unamerican for admitting I've never even had it?

Answers to some of the interrogatories above in Wendy's post; we have an artificial tree; what cards we send are by mail; love eggnog; a little fruitcake goes a long way (although I do not actively dislike it); favorite part of Christmas is Family; Traveling? Yes, for the Tolle family brawl on the Sunday after; on Christmas day itself, no; opening presents; both; star on top of tree; no nativity scene; favorite Christmas song, Adeste Fidelis (all in Latin; I still have the first verse down pat); only "recycled" presents have been gag gifts; lights on tree only, colored; favorite thing to eat at Christmas, a tie between my mother's ham loaf and peppernuts.

Vaughn,

I will cop to knowing the first verse (and most of the second if I REALLY push myself) of Silent Night in German - which you wouldn't think would sound pretty (let's face it, German is NOT the most "romantic" sounding language) But actually sounds really nice :)

We'll put up an artificial tree (actually THREE) as soon as I get aroundtiit and leave them up until after Christmas without necessarily waiting until after New Years.

I love eggnog! I think I still have some of last years on my right thigh and maybe my belly too. Maybe I can aim for the left thigh this year.

I received the only bicycle I ever owned at 8 years old. I rode that until I was a teenager and then it passed down to younger siblings.

I have four teenage grandsons and although I'm not a fan of money or gift cards, I must admit teenagers are tough to buy for!

We save into a Christmas account and I always feel a bit guilty starting my shopping until that check is received. I'm a looooong ways from being finished! But I do work well under pressure.

Recycled gag gifts only. Although I have returned gifts for different sizes. Early on Wayne asked me for a list of my sizes and I told him it would depend on where he was shopping. He didn't believe me so off we went to Macy's (this was a few years ago) and to K-Mart where he learned that women can buy a smaller size by paying more. Makes no sense to women either!

I love fudge, perppernuts are a special treat treat and tedious work to make, home made bread with a yeasty taste.

It isn't Christmastime for me until I've seen both Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life. Still cry during both!

Colored lights, an angel on top of one tree and a star on the other two.

I love to give gifts and try to be as good a recipient as a giver but I don't think I succeed. There really is nothing I need and I think I'm the most difficult for several who rack their brains and buy me gifts. The only thing I really want is my family together, healthy, laughing, enjoying one another.

I've tasted some good fruitcakes but also some bad tasting ones. Would prefer another taste even over the good ones.

Did I cover all the questions?

1. Wrapping paper or gift bag?

Wrapping Paper! I love to wrap gifts! Who started that gift bag crap?

2. Real tree or artificial?

Real! We have an artificial one and used it only one year. Rather have a real one.

3. When do you put up your tree?

Depends on our travel plans. Some times early, some times late, some times not at all. This year we're going to London, so the tree will go up late.

4. When do you take down your tree?

After New Year?s Day also.

5. Do you like eggnog?

Yep.

6. Favorite gift received as a child?

Marx electric train when I was 5.

7. Do you have a nativity scene?

No. Funny, we've given a lot for gifts and I've always wanted a big one for the front yard.

8. Hardest person to buy for?

Wife. She's easy to please and hard to buy for.

9. Easiest person to buy for?

My son, too. Just buy him some camo clothes, or something for his truck or a box of ammo.

10. Worst Christmas gift you've ever received?

Not one of my categories.

11. Mail or email Christmas cards?

My wife and I are turds. We don't send cards. Too lazy. No excuse. And we get a bunch!

12. Favorite Christmas movie?

It's a Wonderful Life. I've seen all the old ones so many times that I don't watch them much any more. Don't like any of the new ones.

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?

No special time, haven't started yet. I do have a list though. (first time in years)

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?

A bunch of them.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?

My wife's Christmas cookies!

16. White or colored lights?

I like white on the tree. I've quit hanging lights outside.

17. Favorite Christmas song?

The First Noel, Silent Night

18. Traveling for Christmas or stay home?

We've probably been out of the country more than at home. My wife and I both have annoying in laws. If we're in the Carribean we don't hurt any feelings. Christmas is our slow time of the year business wise and it cost us less to be away.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeers?

Yes I can, Oh you mean now? All six or eight of them or whatever?

20. Angel or Star on top of tree?

Angel. We have one that has a lot of white lights and it is beautiful.

21. Open presents Christmas Eve or Morning?

Morning. Later rather than earlier. Kind of a war of wills. I'll fix a nice breakfast, wash the dishes and get the kitchen all spotless for Joyce to start the Christmas dinner later and then I'll pretend to get interested in TV or something. I usually give in and start opening though.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of year?

Traffic.

23. What I love most about Christmas?

Family.

24. Do you like fruitcake?

Yes! Get a big ol' slice, heat it in the microwave, slather it with real butter, heap a bunch of home made whipped cream on it.

Then Eat the whipped cream off it, lick all the butter off pick out the nuts, raisins and any of the little pieces of fruit you can recognize then feed the rest to the dog.

I want to add some disclaimers :)

Artificial only because my allergies simply can't handle the real thing...

And I remembered two more nativity scenes (my house is apparently EXPLODING with them!) My grandma bought ANOTHER nativity for my son - a real one, not a puzzle, and I have an Eskimo Nativity scene that she bought for me on her Alaskan cruise two years ago - it's really cute - instead of the barn it's an igloo and there are moose and wolves instead of cows and sheep :) I still like my big traditional one best )and when I say big i mean HUGE - before my grandma gave it to me, while her church was being remodeled and all their decor was in storage, they used this nativity in it's place.... Nativities have to be my favorite Christmas decoration...

and please pardon all the typos, we got a new computer and new keyboard and i swear the thing is HALF the size of a regular keyboard so i keep hitting all sorts of "off" keys...
