Yep, same here, although it seems the temperature about 10 feet above ground is lower, given all the ice I saw on lines, etc., while driving in this morning. The forecast is for the temps to drop during the day, which should make things interesting later.

Is this a weird storm or what!? Thunder, heavy rain. Oh, but we've got ice-making material in abundance IF those temps do drop. Some of that ice on limbs and lines formed last evening before the temps went UP overnight. And, the limbs were hanging really low when I went to bed and less low since the rain washed off some the heavy ice.

We lost power for a few hours last night. Made me rather nervous, I have to admit. Went out around midnight, not sure exactly what time it came back on but I woke up sometime in the middle of the night and the alarm clock was flashing.

I did tell the fiance that if I woke up and it was cold in the house I was getting the monster out of his bed and bringing him in with us.

Speaking of interesting....
We had a disgruntled former employee show up here this morning with guns. That's multiple....guns.
No fireworks, apparently only trying to make some folks nervous. It worked.
He was flashing them around at a local guick-store early a.m. and followed an employee here with them.

I know of at least a couple of licensed concealed carriers here. Not a good idea to get outa control around here, as I don't beleive the mngmt. will mention/object to those folks.

Cops went to talk with him.
I hate to see somebody get dropped for being a dumbass.

Whoa, Tracy, that makes "interesting" an understatement. Glad that there was no violence/shootings. "Dumbass" is another understatement, too.

Agreed. That would be extremely scary I think, what with all the mass shootings going on lately especially. Where do people get the idea that threatening someone else with a gung because you are mad about something is a good idea? I mean, what switch in their brain has to flip? I have been diagnosed as clinically depressed and I have to tell you, killing other people has never entered my head...

Maybe it's an illusion, but it looks like the entire storm system, that stretches from southern Texas, is moving a bit to the east all the time. It's hard to tell what this means for us.

Interesting weather. Expect for that freak '05 storm, I don't remember anything like it, and even it wasn't like this one.

Didn't we have two bad and damaging ice storms in recent years? The first being a couple years before the one in '05? Seems we had to hire tree trimmers twice because of broken limbs WAAAAAY UP there. We have two giant pin oaks (can't reach around the trunk of either one) in the front yard. It took a mechanical basket thing to get to the limbs that were hanging there threatening to come down and cause even more damage.

Wendy, about a year ago, I gave up the macho bullshit and went to the Doc about my mental anguish.
Effexor did not do shit to me.
Zoloft helped, but not much until I got it upped to 150mg from 100mg.

I'm so glad I did that.
I don't feel any effects, but damn, I sure enjoy life much more now.

Self medicating (staying drunk) was much worse.

Speaking of anguish....
Must be sumpin' to the former employee thingy.
Hmmmmm........
I didn't EVEN mention it to the wife at lunch.
Shewt, they was showin' the crazy kid from Colorado on the news.
Anyway, when I got back from lunch the place is locked up. I've got a card for the card reader/lock, but if you don't, you have to go to the front door/receptionist!
People really are crazy.
I mean WAY beyond zoloft crazy!

I'm tickled to hear the company realized there could be some liability to them if they ignored the warning. Like you, I hope the guy doesn't use the guns, but in today's world he's done more than enough to cause everyone to be forewarned. Is he still on the loose?

Yes, once the company was on notice, it had to take steps to "secure" the facility.

Tracy,

I agree, although I am no longer ON the medication, it did make a big difference at the time and certainly put me back on the right track (the fiance swears I still need it once a month :) ).

Wendy....HA!

The guy lives here in town.
I don't think anything will come of any of this.
IMHO, a low IQ, and wanting attention.

Better safe than dead.

Well, we here in Wichita dodged the bullet, so to speak.

http://morningsentinel.mainetoday.com/news/local/4... is a link to a story about the generosity of a very wealthy individual in Maine, who, as part of his estate planning, established a foundation. The foundation announced yesterday that it will make a deposit of $500 into a 529 plan for each child born in Maine, beginning in 2009, as a start to saving for college. The article indicates that the program starts in a more limited way in 2008 for children born in two specifically named hospitals. I found it interesting that the State of Maine gives $50 for college cost savings itself, according to the article.

The gentleman in question was a good "friend" of Colby College, where the younger attends, although he never went to college himself.
