OFF THE STUMP

OPEN THREADS

Well, as predicted, the two most qualified candidates bit the dust. Now the pressure is off so I can spend the rest of the year bitchen' about about them instead of supporting anyone. (which is a damned American thing anyhow).

KANSAS UNIVERSITY GETS THE "W"!!  HOO-RAY!

The game was so much fun! This team (and I think that TEAM part is the main reason for their successful season) seemed like seasoned players, kept it together in an atmosphere that must have been crazy. Good job for a bunch of young men!

Here is a poster that sums up No Child Left Behind perfectly. So sad. I hope some politician has enough sense to make BIG changes to this law. Scrapping it and starting over would be best. Our children, who are our tomorrow, deserve much better than this! I don't personally know of any politicians who have any sense, but maybe they'll accidentally do something good.

Tracy, I just saw the news about Biden. I hate this caucus system. It sucks swamp water.

The MSM tells us who's the best, corporations and big money make sure the MSM tells us the right thing by buying candidates, while the two parties have already chosen who the candidates will be. Why bother?

Why are Iowa and New Hampshire the Deciders? Yes, I know, they're not the only states to vote, but, come on. Iowa? I can't hear the name without thinking about the old song from "The Music Man".

Oh, there's nothing halfway
About the Iowa way to treat you,
When we treat you
Which we may not do at all.
There's an Iowa kind of special
Chip-on-the-shoulder attitude.
We've never been without.
That we recall.
We can be cold
As our falling thermometers in December
If you ask about our weather in July.
And we're so by God stubborn
We could stand touchin' noses
For a week at a time
And never see eye-to-eye.
But what the heck, you're welcome,
Join us at the picnic.
You can eat your fill
Of all the food you bring yourself.
You really ought to give Iowa a try.
Provided you are contrary,
We can be cold
As our falling thermometer in December
If you ask about our weather in July.
And we're so by God stubborn
We can stand touchin' noses
For a week at a time
And never see eye-to-eye.
But we'll give you our shirt
And a back to go with it
If your crops should happen to die.

Such a stupid way to select a president. Guess that helps explain why we have a stupid president. And big business and big money keep on a truckin. Sucks swamp water are good words Rox. I thought of some that shouldn't be in my head.

ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK KU

OK, with that out of my system; Rox, the same song runs through my mind, too. Traditionally, the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary have been major milestones in determining the nominees for the parties. This year, with the February 5 super primary day, it may be different, but it won't make any difference for those having had to drop out. It's all about the money, and as I see it, the impact of Iowa and New Hampshire continues as has been true in the past, at least for this cycle, for the money. Too bad, but that seems to be how it is.
