Donut Day Masonry?

OPEN THREADS

Good  morning donut fans. If I were closer, I'm sure I could lend a hand on the masonry. Or at least some tools!

A quick inventory reveals these tools in my collection: a 10" diamond blade masonry wet-saw, a cement mixer, a mortor mixing pan and hoe, numerous trowels, a brick hod, buckets, levels, and just about any hand tool you would need! Not to speak of the thousands of bricks that I need to sell off.

Since I no longer have the time, energy, and motivation to play with all these toys....I suppose I really should have an auction.

My tool inventory is similar. Except many of the tools I have two each. When I need one really bad, I can't find it so I buy another.

Leaving the house in a few minutes to go feed the horses and goats. Then I'll take the boy to breakfast and we'll go over to Julie's house for brownies!

Julie is very lucky! Joyce has chores around the house for me to do so I had to choose between Julie and the gun show this weekend. I don't have time for both.

Now, if the gun show had brownies. . . .

I cannot make it today. I called and left a message I hope Julie receives. Is it possible there is enough work that some help today and others tomorrow or another day? I saw on another thread where Jay had a conflict with today. Maybe if Hank does his share he could also make the gun show? Julie let us know the progress.

My daughter dropped off her three kids this a.m., so I'm baby-sitting today and won't make it to Julie's. It's "tax time" for the daughter at work, as W-2's have to be figured and sent for employees. I doubt I'll have another Saturday free until February.

The best laid plans of mice and men... Or something like that.

Y'all have a great time!! I'll be thinking of you.

just got hank's email.

We're missing some pretty important part of the installation process so Hank's gonna order that and we'll need to wait until the vinyl edging comes in (you put it next to the door/window frames).
Keep looking for the next work day (in a week or two).

Thanks for the update Julie.

Hank, thank you for your expertise, your kindness, your advice. I'm sorry I wasn't there today. It would have been nice to see you in person. I suspect you're nicer than I want to admit. ;-)

Well, I was a little disappointed today, didn't get as much done as I'd like. It's pretty easy, but there's a little learning curve.

I'm getting a load of 2 X 6s tomorrow at Lowes I'll try to order the vinyl edging again.

I still may have a speed run to Putnam OK, won't know until tomorrow morning.

Well, things are pretty crazy around here for us what with realizing the wedding is 12 weeks away (how the heck did THAT happen?) and with the fiance being laid off and all... BUT, if we are available the weekend you do more work, we will definitely come out and help. Unfortunately if it is this weekend or the one following, we won't be able to help - we will be in Branson this weekend for a holiday party, and my bridal shower is the following weekend, and my sister and cousin are in town from Florida for the only time until the wedding so we have a lot of little stuff to get taken care of that weekend...

Wendy, make these weeks fun and exciting vs. stressful, if you can. 'Cause why else go to all the trouble and expense? And then you'll be able to get on with what is really important. Making a wedding should never be as important as making a marriage! A bit of grandmotherly advice, that is yours to listen to or not. ;-)

Sounds like the job at Julie's house is in the right hands and will be done properly. I'll bet the Price guys have it figured out and will make great foremen! I hope the next work day can be one several can attend and help on - it will get done more quickly with more willing hands and will be a heck of a lot more fun with several willing to laugh and work together. Then the big payoff: more get to receive that good feeling of accomplishment! It really is true that when you help someone you usually get as much as you give!?

Linda,

I think that is why I am so stressed now - because i have done NOTHING for this wedding! :) I told my fiance we should just run away to Vegas - only problem being my family would never forgive me... But you are right - and I am so much more excited about marrying my fiance than I am about the wedding itself (probably why I haven't gotten anything done on it...)

Making a marriage is a lifetime endeavor! It isn't a "sentence," it's a privilege. Wayne and I are into our 28th year of our shared adventure -- some days we get it better than others. ;-)
